New Haven Man, 19, Charged In Connection With Branford Car Thefts

Isaiah Richardson was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree larceny, second-degree larceny, and illegal use of a credit card.

BRANFORD, CT —Branford police arrested a 19-year-old from New Haven in connection with stolen cars and a home break-in in November 2020.

Isaiah Richardson was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree larceny, second-degree larceny, and illegal use of a credit card. He was arraigned and held on $100,000 bail.

According to Branford police, in the overnight hours Nov. 6, 2020, Branford police spotted two stolen vehicles in the Pine Orchard section of town. The drivers took off with police in pursuit. A third abandoned stolen vehicle was later found in the middle of Totoket Road. Items inside that stolen car led officers to a home on Sunset Hill Drive, where police learned that two of the owners vehicles were stolen from an attached garage. The same vehicles police had been pursuing.

The Branford police investigation found that two suspects entered the home through an unlocked garage door, and were able to steal keys to the vehicles, as well as other personal items.

In the following days, both vehicles were located, police said, and recovered in New Haven. An extensive investigation followed and Branford police detectives were able to obtain both DNA and video surveillance of the suspects. Their investigation remains active as there are other suspects to identify.
