Obituary: Charles P. Scalesse, 74, of Branford
A former New Haven court prosecutor who had a private law practice in Branford, he worked up until the time of his illness.
Charles P. Scalesse of Branford died Thursday January 12, 2023 at the Guilford House after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Joanne Mazzacane Scalesse.
Charles was born May 26, 1948 in New Haven, a son of the late Charles J. and Marie Anastasio Scalesse. He was a 1966 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He was a 1970 graduate, Summa Cum Laude, of Fairfield University and a 1973 graduate of Boston College Law School.

He was admitted to the bar in 1973 and worked as a prosecutor in the New Haven Court for four years, before going into private practice in Branford, working up until the time of his illness. He was a communicant of St. Therese Church in Branford and was a former Eucharistic Minister at the church.
Besides Joanne, he is survived by his sons, Charles M. (Elizabeth) Scalesse of Southington and Michael J. (Katherine) Scalesse of North Haven; his grandchildren, Isabella, Charles J., Lilly and Sophia Scalesse; his brother, Richard (Gail) Scalesse of New Hampshire and his sister, Nancy (Patrick) Lorenti of East Haven. He was predeceased by an infant brother Charles.

Visitation will be Thursday January 19th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 10:00 in St. John Bosco Parish at St. Therese Church, 105 Leetes Island Road, Branford.
