Obituary: Frank Myjak, 86, of Branford
A US Army veteran, he played semi-pro football, was a hockey buff, loved the town and had a long career with the Branford Police Department.

Frank Myjak of Branford passed away peacefully on Monday May 15, 2023 at the Hospital of St. Raphael with his family by his side. Frank was born in New Haven, CT on August 20, 1936 to the late Anthony and Agnes (Majchrzak) Myjak.

Frank was a veteran of the United States Army, played semi-pro football for New Haven East Shore, and enjoyed a long career as a Sergeant on the Branford Police Department. He was an avid hockey buff, loved the Cardinals baseball team, trips to Cape Cod with his wife, good food, and polka music. He was a loyal parishioner of St. Stanislaus Polish Catholic Church, loved the town of Branford and his family unconditionally.
Besides his wife of 49 years, Judith Myjak, he is survived by his four children that include Kim Myjak Leder of Durham, North Carolina, Kevin (Beth) Myjak of Cheshire, CT, Janelle Occhiboi (Peter) of Guilford, CT and Laura Sohl Grigor of Madison, CT. He adored his grandchildren and attended all of their activities and events and they called him Pop-Pop; they include Justin (Caitlyn) Myjak of Bristol, CT, Samantha Bick (Philip) of Chapel Hill, N.C., Constance Leder of Chapel Hill, N.C., Alyssa Occhiboi of Brooklyn, N.Y., Bryanna Occhiboi of Oahu, HI, and Magnus Grigor of Madison, CT. Frank was the youngest of 13 siblings all of which are predeceased and include 6 brothers: John Myjak, Walter Myjak, Joseph Myjak, Thomas Myjak, Anthony Myjak, and Stanley Myjak. He is also predeceased by 6 sisters: Anna Kornacki, Stella Myjak, Joesphine Hribko, Mary Saneski, Helen Myjak, and Rose Myjak. He also leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Joan Milliken as well as numerous cousins, nephews, extended family, and many friends. Frank “Pop-Pop” will be sorely missed. He was the rock of the family.

Friends may call on Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. His funeral procession will leave from the funeral home on Monday May 22, 2023 at 9:30 A.M. to St. Stanislaus Polish Catholic Church, 9 Eld Street for a 10:00 Mass. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Avenue, North Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be accepted at the Wounded Warrior Project @ support.woundedwarriorproject.org.
