Public Reception For Photographer, Musician, Longtime CT Hospice Volunteer's Exhibit 'Cosmos'
Saturday from 2-5 p.m., free public reception for photography exhibit at CT Hospice features cosmic wonders captured by volunteer Al Papsun.
BRANFORD, CT — Connecticut Hospice is holding a public reception Saturday, celebrating a new photography exhibit, ‘Cosmos,’ by a longtime Hospice volunteer. The reception is from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to the public.
The exhibit features more than 50 striking images of cosmic wonders captured by Hospice volunteer Al Papsun, who is also well-known for playing piano weekly in the Connecticut Hospice lobby.
His photographs reveal breathtaking views of distant galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, and other celestial phenomena, offering viewers a glimpse into the vast beauty of the universe.

Papsun has been an accomplished amateur astrophotographer since his youth, developing his craft over many years through a deep interest in astronomy and the night sky. His work combines patience, technical skill, and artistic vision to transform faint celestial objects into vivid and compelling images.
The reception also features live music, including performances by accomplished jazz pianist Ben Papsun, also a Hospice volunteer, along with the extraordinary saxophone work of Nigel Regan, whose career highlights include a stint performing with Jazz at Lincoln Center. The musical program will complement the exhibit’s theme of wonder and exploration.

"Public programs like this reflect Connecticut Hospice’s longstanding commitment to welcoming the community to enjoy the facility’s beautiful waterfront location," CT Hospice shared in a news release. "As the birthplace of the US Hospice Movement, Connecticut Hospice understands the importance of continuing to support engagement with the arts as part of its broader mission."
The 'Cosmos' exhibit will remain on display at Connecticut Hospice through May 10. Photographs from the exhibit will be available for purchase, and 20 percent of all proceeds will
be donated to support the mission and programs of Connecticut Hospice.
Guests attending the reception will have the opportunity to meet the artist, enjoy live music, explore the telescopes used to create the images, and view the collection of photographs
while learning more about the stories and techniques behind the work.
