Report: Fired Branford Crossing Guard Receives $15K

The town of Branford and the former crossing guard agreed to settle the wrongful termination suit.

A former Branford crossing guard will receive a total of $15,000 from the town of Branford as part of a wrongful termination settlement, the New Haven Register reports.

William D. Alfano was fired in August of 2013 for an off-duty incident in which he got into a verbal dispute with a woman.

According to the Register, Alfano claimed the woman spread rumors that he was having an affair with another crossing guard, and he said he simply verbally defended himself and his wife’s honor.
