Stony Creek Drum Corps Host 2022 National Muster, Parade This Weekend

Held at Hammer Field starting Friday at 7 p.m., the event will include 31 fife & drum corps from across New England, and the pond (Ireland!)

BRANFORD, CT —Just days ago, the band played in its hometown of Limerick, Ireland. This weekend, the St. Mary's Prize Bank will be in Branford.

The Stony Creek Drum Corps will host the 2022 National Muster Friday through Sunday on Hammer Field.

The Friday night 'Tattoo' at 7 p.m., will be hosted by the Young Colonials Fife and Drum Corps of Carmel, New York. A military tattoo is a military performance or display of music.

In addition to the drum corps, the Connecticut State Police Honor Guard and the Branford Police and Fire Departments' Honor Guard will lead a parade Saturday.

The parade steps off at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Hopson Avenue and Meadow Street and will continue down Meadow and turn left onto Montowese Street. From there, it will proceed north on Montowese, left onto South Main Street and then turn left onto Eades Street and then march straight back onto Hammer Field.

Branford police noted on Facebook that residents and motorists should be aware of 'No Parking Signs' over the weekend.

Police said there will be temporary road closures and detours during the parade.

The Stony Creek Fife & Drum Corps and organizers of the event welcome the public to observe the parade and enjoy the event festivities, police said.

Stony Creek Fife & Drum Corps says folks should "feel free to set up anywhere along the parade route."

"We would love to see a big crowd, then join us on Hammer Field to enjoy the muster when the parade portion is over with," the Corps said on Facebook.

Stony Creek Brewery announced that as a tribute to the Stony Creek Fife and Drum Corps and the first Muster in Branford, it's introduced a new beer, 1886 ALE.

Admission is free. There will be "beer, food, and music and fun for the entire family," the Corps shared.


Since its founding in 1886, the Corps has been continuously active in the civic life of the village of Stony Creek, with its influence also reaching throughout the United States as well as internationally. Its first appearance in 1887 was a performance to dedicate the Soldiers Monument atop East Rock in New Haven. Since then, the Corps has appeared thousands of times, igniting the crowds as they march and play.
