Two Branford Residents Selected for Prestigious Music Audition
Residents Alicia Pekar and Callia Ricozzi have been selected to take part in the CMEA regional auditions.

Branford residents and Sacred Heart Academy students Alicia Pekar ’17 and Callia Ricozzi ‘15 have been selected to take part in the Connecticut Music Educator Association Regional Auditions.
Pekar plays the cello and Ricozzi is a soprano singer.
Nine students from the Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden were selected to take part in the Connecticut Music Education Association regional Auditions for All State Choir, Band and Orchestra.

Each year the CMEA selects the best young area musicians to take part in their respective musical group, said Beth Griffin, director of public relations for Sacred Heart Academy.
Students audition at the regional level by preparing specific scales and pieces. Local music teachers serve as judges. From there the students who do well enough are invited to the All State audition. Those who pass the All State audition are invited to participate in the All State Festival.

Sacred Heart has had five students participate in the All State Festival in the last 10 years.
