1 Injured In Machete Attack In Bridgeport; Assailant At-Large: Police

The victim suffered "a serious physical injury to the face," according to Bridgeport police.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 26-year-old Bridgeport man suffered "a serious physical injury to the face" Sunday when he was attacked by an assailant with a machete, according to Bridgeport police.

The victim was admitted to an area hospital for treatment following the 7:30 p.m. attack, but his condition was not available.

Bridgeport police said the incident occurred on Waldemere Avenue near the "Diamond 10" baseball field in Seaside Park, and the attacker remains at-large.

"The responsible suspect is described as a Hispanic male with dreadlock style black hair," said Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "He was wearing a white tank top shirt, black pants, and a baseball cap. The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot in the 100 block of Iranistan Avenue."

Detectives are investigating the attack, and urge anyone with information about the crime to contact the case officer, Detective John Knapp, at 203-581-5251.
