BRIDGPORT, CT — Bridgeport has imposed a one-year moratorium on new smoke shops in the city, as officials seek to adopt stiffer regulations on the establishments, the Connecticut Post reported.

The city has about 50 smoke shops throughout the city, with some near schools, religious institutions and other sensitive locations.

Bridgeport police have raided several smoke shops in recent years, making arrests and seizing illegal cannabis and other prohibited products.
