2 Children Seriously Injured In Bridgeport Crash: Police

The two-vehicle crash occurred Saturday afternoon on Briarwood Avenue, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Two juveniles were seriously injured in Bridgeport Saturday afternoon when the vehicle they were riding in was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Briarwood Avenue, according to authorities.

The two drivers were also injured in the 1:30 p.m. crash, with firefighters needed to extricate one of the drivers from his vehicle, while the driver in the other vehicle was able to climb out of his vehicle from the passenger side, police said.

All four were taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center for treatment, but the two children were later transported to Yale New Haven Hospital. The extent of the children's injuries were not disclosed.

Both drivers suffered injuries to their lower extremities, according to police.

Details of how the crash occurred were not disclosed, but police said it happened near 999 Briarwood Ave.

One driver was operating a 2013 Ford Escape with Connecticut registration, while the other driver was operating a 2013 Ford Taurus with what police described as "misuse Maine registration." Both children were in the Taurus, according to police.
