2 Injured In Pair Of Weekend Shootings In Bridgeport: Police
The separate incidents occurred early Sunday morning, according to authorities.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A pair of separate shootings in Bridgeport over the weekend left two people in stable condition in area hospitals, according to Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran.
The first shooting occurred in the 100 block of William Street, where a 43-year-old Shelton man suffered "multiple gunshot wounds to his legs and contusions to the head" in an attack at about 1:15 a.m., Gilleran said.
"The victim was a patron at the Pleasant Moments Café located at 1 William Street," Gilleran said. "The victim states he left the establishment walking towards his car on William Street when he was confronted by an unknown male party wearing all black clothing and a black mask. That male suspect is reported to have struck the victim in the head and took his necklace. The suspect then brandished a firearm, shot the victim numerous times in the legs, and fled on foot in an unknown direction."

In the second shooting, also on Sunday at about 2:15 a.m., uniformed police officers patrolling on foot in the area of Main and Gold streets overheard gunfire coming from the area of Main and Chapel streets.

"Officers ran towards the sound of the gunfire and located a victim on Chapel suffering from multiple gunshot wounds," Gilleran said. "Officers rendered first aid, called medics to the scene, and located a crime scene in the vacant lot at 1270-1290 Main Street."
The victim in this shooting is a 31-year-old Derby man, who is being treated in an area hospital.
"Detectives conducted interviews and collected evidence at the scene," Gilleran said. "The Derby man appears to have been singled out with no other victims reported."
