2 Rescued As Firefighters Battle Apartment Fire In Bridgeport: FD
The two-alarm fire was reported Friday morning on Success Avenue, according to authorities.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Two people were rescued from a two-alarm apartment fire in the 400 block of Success Avenue in Bridgeport early Friday morning, according to authorities.
The two people were taken to Bridgeport Hospital, but their conditions were not immediately known.
According to Scott Appleby, director of the city's Office of Emergency Management, the blaze was reported at about 4:20 a.m.

"Upon arrival the Bridgeport Fire Command reported heavy smoke and fire on the first and second floor of an apartment," Appleby wrote in a statement. "Extensive damage was being reported to that unit with smoke conditions throughout the building, which was evacuated."
In addition to the second alarm, firefighters from Stratford and Westport helped the Bridgeport Fire Department with mutual aid coverage within the city.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
