2-Year-Old Child Killed In 1-Car Bridgeport Crash: Police

The driver and another passenger in the vehicle were injured in the Tuesday morning crash, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 2-year-old child was killed early Tuesday in a one-car crash on Reservoir Avenue in Bridgeport, according to police.

The 29-year-old male driver of the 2005 Honda Accord suffered minor injuries in the 6 a.m. crash, while the 30-year-old female passenger was seriously injured.

Bridgeport police and fire personnel, and American Medical Response paramedics, were called to the scene on a report of a crash involving a car hitting a utility pole and a tree.

"A preliminary investigation confirmed a silver 2005 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Reservoir Avenue near Saunders Avenue," wrote Bridgeport Police Sgt. Darryl Wilson in a statement. "The Honda Accord lost control and hit a UI utility pole and came to rest on a tree off the northbound side of the road."

The crash is being investigated by the Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Team.

"The Bridgeport Police send their condolences to the family and friends of the infant," Wilson said.
