4-Story Apartment Building Catches Fire In Bridgeport

Bridgeport firefighters evacuated residents from their apartments. The American Red Cross will help with any relocations.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A four-story apartment building was ablaze Saturday in Bridgeport.

Emergency personnel received 911 calls about 1 p.m. reporting the fire in the 1000 block of East Main Street, according to the Bridgeport Fire Department. Arriving firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the building and evacuated residents from their apartments. No one was injured.

Fairfield and Stratford firefighters were called to assist the department, and the American Red Cross will help with any relocations. The fire is under investigation.
