7 In Sinking Boat Near Stratford Rescued By Bridgeport Firefighters

The incident occurred Monday in the waters off Long beach in Long Island Sound, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Seven people trapped on a sinking boat Monday in waters off Stratford's Long Beach were rescued by Bridgeport firefighters, according to authorities. No injuries were reported.

The incident occurred at about 3:45 p.m., when the department was alerted about a 32-foot vessel taking on water in Long Island Sound.

Five people were safely removed from the boat and taken to shore aboard Bridgeport Fireboat 233, and two remained on the sinking vessel to assist Seatow with towing efforts.
