BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 55-year-old man, who was shot multiple times on Saturday night, died of his wounds early Sunday, according to Bridgeport police. The man's identity is being withheld by police pending notification of next of kin.
The victim was brought to Bridgeport Hospital in a private vehicle at about 7:15 p.m., and he was pronounced dead at a 1:35 a.m. on Sunday following emergency surgery.
"Homicide detectives worked throughout the overnight and early morning hours on the case," said Bridgeport Police Det. Jeffrey Holtz in a statement. "The investigation is centering on the lower portion of East Main Street."
Additional details were not disclosed.
The shooting is the city's seventh homicide in 2026.
