Arrest Made In Beating Death Of Homeless Man In Bridgeport: Police
Daniel Engeldrum was beaten on Fairfield Avenue last week, and succumbed to his injuries days later, according to Bridgeport police.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 32-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested on a manslaughter charge Tuesday in connection with last week's beating of 49-year-old Daniel Engeldrum in Bridgeport, according to authorities.
Elijah Humphrey, of Fairfield Avenue, was arrested on a warrant charging him with first-degree manslaughter and first-degree intimidation due to bias. He was held in lieu of bail of $1 million, and is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Jan. 11. Officers were called to a report of an assault on Fairfield, and found Engeldrum, who police said was homeless, suffering from a head injury. Endgeldrum died from his injuries two days later at St. Vincent's Medical Center.

"A subsequent autopsy confirmed his death was due to the assault and ruled a homicide," Bridgeport police wrote in a statement. "Detective Brian Coyne of the Homicide Unit was assigned the case and was assisted by the other members of the unit," and they quickly developed Humphrey as a suspect.
During questioning, Humphrey confessed, according to police.
