BRIDGEPORT, CT — Carolyn Vermont, a former employee of the Mayor's Office in Bridgeport, has died, Mayor Joe Ganim announced Thursday.
"It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Carolyn Vermont, a devoted Bridgeport resident and dedicated advocate for our city and region," Ganim said in a statement.
In addition to working in the Mayor's Office, Vermont also "committed her life to strengthening our community through public service and civic leadership, including her work with the NAACP and Habitat for Humanity," Ganim said.

Vermont's impact was felt throughout the city, "from supporting young people and prevention efforts to standing with families during difficult times."
"Bridgeport has lost a true champion," Ganim said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family."
