Bridgeport Ambulance Worker Accused Of Kidnapping Ex-Girlfriend: Cops
The suspect led authorities on a high-speed chase from Bridgeport to Higganum, with the victim in the vehicle, before he was captured.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 22-year-old Bridgeport American Medical Response worker carjacked his ex-girlfriend's vehicle Thursday, with the victim inside, and led authorities on a high-speed chase from Bridgeport to Higganum before he was captured, according to Bridgeport police.
The victim, a 22-year-old Bridgeport woman, was found safe when rescued by state police.
Arrested following the 1:10 a.m. carjacking was Milford resident Bradley Doyle, who was charged with the following:

- Carrying a Dangerous Weapon
- Carrying a Pistol without a Permit
- Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Disobeying and Officers Signal
- Engaging Police in Pursuit
- Failure to Maintain Proper Lane
- Interfering with a Police Officer
- First-degree Reckless Endangerment
Both Doyle and the victim are A.M.R. employees, who "were previously involved in a short dating type relationship earlier this year," according to Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran.
The incident began when a witness saw Doyle force the victim into her vehicle, which he then drove off westbound on Connecticut Avenue toward Seaview Avenue in Bridgeport.

"At that point, the witness called 911 and contacted the Connecticut State Police (C.S.P.)," Gilleran wrote in a statement. "Connecticut State Troopers observed the victim’s vehicle in several towns throughout the State of Connecticut and attempted a felony motor vehicle stop. The suspect disregarded their attempts to stop and continued to flee at a high rate of speed with the victim in the car. Ultimately, Connecticut State Troopers were able to apprehend Doyle in Higganum, CT where they took him into custody and located the victim in good health."
Bridgeport police additionally charged Doyle with the following:
- Robbery by Carjacking
- First-degree Kidnapping
- First-degree Unlawful Restraint
- First-degree Threatening
- First-degree Reckless Endangerment
Doyle is being held in lieu of bail of $1 million, and is currently under police guard at an unnamed Connecticut hospital.
He will be arraigned in Bridgeport Superior Court at a later date.
"I would like to thank the C.S.P. for their diligence in bringing this incident to a safe and prompt conclusion," Gilleran said.
