Bridgeport Board Of Ed Member Arrested For Kidnapping

A Bridgeport school board member has been arrested on allegations that he attempted to kidnap a Seymour man at gunpoint.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport Board of Education member Chris Taylor was arrested on charges that he impersonated a police officer and attempted to kidnap a Seymour man at gunpoint, The Connecticut Post reported. He was charged with attempted second-degree kidnapping with a firearm, conspiracy to commit second-degree kidnapping, third-degree assault, impersonating a police officer, and risk of injury to a child.

His wife, Stacy Ramos Taylor, was also arrested and charged with impersonating a police officer, conspiracy to commit second-degree kidnapping, risk of injury to a child, and criminal trespass. Both were released on $100,000 bond.

Chris Taylor told News 12 Connecticut that this was "an isolated incident involving a family member with substance abuse issues." He added that the full facts need to be revealed for people to get a clear understanding of the situation.

The pair is accused of going to the apartment of a 21-year-old man and attempting to force him to go with them. Police said the man refused to do so, fought off the couple, and fled, The Post reported.

Chris Taylor's tenure on the school board has been marked by controversy. Last year, the Bridgeport Education Association union filed a complaint with the state Board of Labor Relations after he called teachers who objected to a six percent cut "rubbish."
