School Board Member Calls Teachers 'Rubbish'

The Bridgeport teacher union is upset after several disagreements with school board members.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — The Bridgeport Education Association union has filed a complaint with the state Board of Labor Relations after several disagreements, including one Board of Education member calling teachers who objected to a six percent budget cut "rubbish."

Board member Chris Taylor said good riddance teachers who decided to leave the district over a six percent cut, according to the Connecticut Post. Several other board members objected to his comments.

The union also wants the board to pay half of its union president's salary. Board officials said the cut was made due to fiscal woes.
