Bridgeport Cop Agrees To Plea Deal In Crash That Injured Teen
The victim in the wrong-way crash required surgery.

STRATFORD, CT — A former Bridgeport police officer accused of seriously injuring a teen in a Stratford crash took a plea deal on Tuesday, according to the Connecticut Post. John Carrano was charged with assault with a vehicle, driving under the influence, failure to drive right and driving the wrong way after he was involved in a crash that caused injuries requiring surgery to a 19-year-old relative of former Bridgeport mayor Thomas Bucci, the Post reported. The incident occurred Dec. 23, 2017, on Broadbridge Avenue near Emerald Place.
Carrano pleaded nolo contendere to the assault charge, according to the Post, which reported that his sentencing is set for Feb. 11. Under the deal, Carrano is to get a suspended five-year prison term as well as three years probation and he must resign from his police job, which he did in October, the Post reported. The plea can't be used against him in a lawsuit connected to the crash, according to the Post.
