Bridgeport Drug Dealer Sentenced In Federal Meth Case: U.S. Attorney
The defendant was accused of selling methamphetamine to an undercover law enforcement officer, according to prosecutors.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 36-year-old Bridgeport man was sentenced to 39 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for distributing methamphetamine, announced United States Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery.
Derek Coulson was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport. Coulson was arrested in June 2021, and in October that year, he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, methamphetamine.
According to court documents and statements, in January and February 2021, Coulson sold more than 80 grams of methamphetamine to an undercover law enforcement officer.

At the conclusion of Tuesday's court hearing, Coulson, who was released on bond, was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to begin serving his sentence.
This investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration New Haven Task Force, which includes participants from the U.S. Marshals Service, Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation Division, Connecticut State Police and the New Haven, Hamden, West Haven, North Haven, East Haven, Branford, Ansonia, Meriden, Derby, Middletown, Naugatuck and Waterbury Police Departments. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan Keefe.
