Bridgeport Man, 18, Shot And Killed; Homicide Investigation Launched

The victim was found on Thursday in an apartment in a multifamily home on Olive Street, according to Bridgeport police.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — An 18-year-old Bridgeport man was shot and killed at his home in the 300 block of Olive Street on Thursday, and authorities are asking for the public's help in finding whoever killed him.

Bridgeport police were called to the first-floor apartment in the multifamily home at about 1:35 p.m. on a report of a person having been shot.

"Police located an unresponsive 18-year-old Bridgeport teen (male) inside the apartment who appeared to have been shot," said Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "Medics quickly moved into the apartment and attempted emergency lifesaving procedures. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene."

The victim's identity has not been released.

"Next of kin has been notified," Gilleran said. "The Bridgeport Police Department’s thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and friends."

Members of the Bridgeport Police Detective Bureau Homicide Squad are investigating, and Forensic Identification Unit Detectives processed the scene. Police temporarily closed Olive Street between Coleman and Pequonnock streets during the investigation on Thursday.
