Bridgeport Man, 21, Shot And Killed; Police Search For Suspect

The shooting occurred late Tuesday on Trumbull Avenue in Bridgeport, according to police.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 21-year-old Bridgeport man was shot and killed late Tuesday at the Trumbull Gardens housing complex on Trumbull Avenue in Bridgeport, and police are searching for the suspect.

Deron Dacosta was shot at about 11:30 p.m. in the parking lot of 600 block of Trumbull Avenue, and police were alerted to the scene via a ShotSpotter activation and emergency calls from citizens.

Bridgeport police said that Dacosta suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center, where he died after midnight.

"The Bridgeport Police Department’s thoughts and prayers are with Deron Dacosta’s family and friends," said Capt. Kevin Gilleran.

Members of the Bridgeport Police Detective Bureau's Homicide Squad has taken charge of the investigation, and are conducting interviews and working several leads, according to Gilleran.
