ID Released Of Bridgeport Man Fatally Shot In 'Targeted' Killing: PD
The victim was discovered just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday on East Main and Arctic streets in Bridgeport.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 58-year-old Bridgeport man was shot and killed Wednesday night, in what police are calling a "targeted" killing.
Michael Gaines was discovered just before 9 p.m. near the intersection of East Main and Arctic streets in front of Shorty's Deli.
Initial reports said he was lying on the ground, unresponsive.

"Next of kin has been notified," said Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran said in a statement. "The Bridgeport Police Department’s thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Gaines family and friends."
Upon arrival at the scene, police officers saw that Gaines was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

"Medics arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital, where he later died," Gilleran said.
Detectives from the department's Homicide and Identification units have processed the scene and collected several items of evidence, according to Gilleran.
"This appears to be an isolated incident where the victim was the only person targeted," Gilleran said.
