Bridgeport Man Accused Of Committing Multiple Armed Robberies: Police
The suspect was arrested in connection with an armed robbery this month, and is a suspect in three others, according to Bridgeport police.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 46-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested Thursday, accused of multiple robberies this month in Bridgeport, according to police.
Jorge Ruiz was arrested on a warrant charging him with first-degree robbery in connection with the Feb. 1 armed robbery of Sergio's Pizza on Madison Avenue in Bridgeport, in which police said he was armed with Mac 10 / Uzi-type firearm at the time.
He is also a suspect in the following armed robberies:

- Junco and Sons Market, located on William Street, on Wednesday
- Cumberland Farms Gas Station, located on East Main Street, early Thursday
- Checkers Food Store & Deli, located on North Avenue, also on Thursday
"As a result of the Bridgeport Police Department’s Patrol Division investigation into the Checkers robbery, police officers were able to locate an unoccupied vehicle associated with the crime and call for a Connecticut State Police (CSP) K9 team to conduct a track for the suspect(s)," wrote Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "The CSP K9 team (Trooper 1st Class Michael Trudeau & K9 “Hector”) tracked from the suspect vehicle to the area of 100 Front Street, where they located and identified suspect Jorge Ruiz."
Ruiz was taken into custody in connection with the Sergio's Pizza robbery, and was also arrested on additional warrants from Bridgeport, Stratford and Naugatuck charging him with violation of probation.

He served 14 years in prison in connection with multiple robberies, and was released in December 2021. Ruiz also has convictions for escape and firearms offenses.
Late Thursday, Bridgeport police added several charges against Ruiz, according to the following statement from Gilleran:
In regards to the Junco Market and Cumberland Farms robberies, Ruiz is charged with
Robbery in the 1st Degree (2 separate counts). Total bond is $500,000.
In regards to the Checkers Food Store robbery Ruiz is charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol w/o a Permit, Illegal Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, Alteration of a Firearm Identification Mark, Larceny in the 1st Degree, Threatening, Interfering with a Police Officer, Criminal Impersonation, and Forgery in the 2nd Degree. Bond is set at $500,000.
"I would like to thank the officers assigned to the BPD Patrol Division, the Detective Bureau’s Robbery Squad, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the CSP K9 Unit for their hard work in bringing this incident to a safe conclusion," Gilleran said. "BPD Robbery Squad Detective Damien Csech has done an outstanding job as the case officer."
Ruiz is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Friday.
