Death Of Inmate At Bridgeport Correctional Center Under Investigation
The Queens, New York resident was found unresponsive in a cell; state authorities are reviewing circumstances of incident.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — The death of an incarcerated person at Bridgeport Correctional Center is under investigation, according to Connecticut correction officials.
At about 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, an incarcerated individual returning to his cell found his cellmate lying on the floor with a ligature around his neck and unresponsive, officials said.
The individual alerted facility staff, who responded and began lifesaving measures. Staff performed CPR until ambulance personnel arrived and transported the man to a hospital.

The man was pronounced dead at 8:28 p.m., shortly after arriving at the hospital, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Said Khaled Youssef, 41, of Queens, New York. According to officials, Youssef entered the Connecticut Department of Correction system on June 16 and was being held on several charges with bond set at $20,000.

The Connecticut State Police and the Office of the Inspector General are investigating the death.
The cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
