Bridgeport Man Accused Of Forcefully Entering Naugatuck Home Arrested At Airport: Police

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport man accused of forcefully entering a Naugatuck home Saturday was later found and arrested at Tweed New Haven Airport, according to the Naugatuck Police Department.

In a news release posted to Facebook, police said officers were called to the home after a resident reported a man, identified as Taijon Marquest Cooper, 32, of Bridgeport, had forcefully entered the residence.

Cooper fled the area before officers arrived after being confronted by the residents, one of whom displayed a firearm they were lawfully carrying, according to police.

No injuries were reported, police said.

During their investigation, officers received information that Cooper might be at Tweed airport attempting to flee, police said.

New Haven police later found Cooper waiting for a flight and arrested him, according to police.

Cooper was taken to police headquarters in Naugatuck and charged with first-degree burglary, disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal mischief.

He was also charged on an active arrest warrant with first-degree burglary and second-degree breach of peace.

Cooper was held on a combined $200,000 bond and appeared in court Tuesday morning, according to police.
