Bridgeport Man Accused of Leaving Puppies in Hot Car

Four small dogs were rescued from small crates inside a parked car on Main Street, police said.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A local man was charged with cruelty to animals Tuesday after police received complaints about four puppies left inside a car for nearly a half-hour, the CT Post reported.

Onnie Canady, 54, is accused of leaving the puppies in his car on Main Street. Three of the canines were stuffed into a small crate, and another was inside a very small cage, according to the Post.

Once police arrived at the vehicle and freed the puppies, it took another 25 minutes before Canady came along.
