Bridgeport Man Accused Of Stabbing Food Delivery Driver: Stamford PD

Police said Tracey Baker, of Bridgeport, stabbed a food delivery driver in Stamford on April 13. Baker was arrested on Monday.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 52-year-old Bridgeport man accused of stabbing a food delivery driver in April was arrested on Monday at the Stamford Superior Courthouse, police said.

Tracey Baker was taken into custody on a warrant that charges him with first-degree assault, violation of a protective order and carrying a dangerous weapon. A $150,000 bond was set by the court in the warrant, according to Capt. Richard Conklin of the Stamford Police Department.

Conklin said on April 13 shortly before 8 p.m., a food delivery driver was making a delivery at a high rise apartment building in the 20 block of Perry Street on the West Side of Stamford when he got into an argument with a woman.

He was trying to leave the building but was confronted in the elevator by a man wearing a mask, who was later identified as Baker, Conklin said.

"It appears that [Baker] has a relationship with the woman. After she argued, she went and found him and she said something to him and he confronted this delivery driver," Conklin added.

After a brief argument, Conklin said Baker stabbed the delivery driver in the left torso.

The delivery driver, 28, was taken to Stamford Hospital where he was treated for a serious stab wound, Conklin said.

Investigators in the SPD's Bureau of Criminal Investigations picked up the case, and by the end of April they had identified Baker and secured an arrest warrant.

"They've been diligently looking for him since that time. During that investigation they learned that Baker had a court date [Monday]. They went over and checked the court for him, and sure enough he did show up for his court date," Conklin said, noting that Baker has a lengthy criminal record.

Conklin praised investigators Luis Serna and Bryan Cooper for their work.

"The investigative unit did a very good job on developing [Baker] as the suspect, even though he was wearing a mask, and obtaining a warrant and tracking him to court where he was arrested without incident," Conklin said.
