Bridgeport Man Accused Of Threatening Others With Gun: Police
Police said a 29-year-old man assaulted a woman and threatened others with a gun during a dispute early Sunday morning in Stamford.

STAMFORD, CT — A Bridgeport man faces a series of charges after Stamford police said he assaulted a woman and threatened other people with a gun.
Kelvin Soto, 29, was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, second-degree strangulation and two counts of risk of injury to a minor, according to Capt. Richard Conklin of the Stamford Police Department. Conklin said two children were asleep inside the apartment when the incident took place.
Soto was given a bond of $100,000. Conklin said Soto was convicted in the past of possession of a pistol without a permit.

Conklin said officers were called to an apartment on Woodland Avenue in Stamford around 6:40 a.m. Sunday after people arrived home from a night out.
A dispute took place while the group was out, and continued back at the apartment, Conklin said, adding that Soto punched and strangled a 20-year-old woman before pulling out a gun and threatening others.

"[The dispute] seems to revolve around someone dancing with somebody else. Alcohol probably played a part in this," Conklin said.
Officers Marco Califano and Driton Xhema interviewed witnesses and eventually detained Soto. Conklin said officers located a jacket Soto discarded in the apartment and found a Glock .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun, loaded with a high capacity magazine containing 13 rounds, with one round in the chamber. Officers were drawn to the jacket after hearing a loud thud when Soto took it off, Conklin said.
An additional high capacity magazine was also in the same jacket pocket, Conklin said.
Conklin praised Califano and Xhema for the arrest.
"These two officers did a good job. They were alert and waded through the chaos and were able to arrest this party and seize an illegal firearm," he said.
