Bridgeport Man Arrested With Heroin, Crack Cocaine In Westport

The arrest occurred following a traffic stop on the Post Road East.

WESTPORT, CT — A 23-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested by Westport police on narcotics charges on April 28 after police found 44 wax folds of heroin and 0.7 grams of crack cocaine during a motor vehicle stop.

Owen Hines was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell and possession of narcotics following the 2 a.m. traffic stop on the Post Road East. Police said Hines was pulled over because he had committed several undisclosed motor vehicle violations, and police discovered that his vehicle registration had been suspended.

"In the course of speaking with Hines, he admitted to recently purchasing narcotics," police said. "Ultimately recovered from Hines’ person were a total of 44 wax folds of suspected heroin (weighing approximately 10 grams) that had been separated into multiple bundles. Also recovered was approximately 0.7 grams of suspected crack cocaine. Presumptive tests for both suspected narcotic substances indicated a positive result for the presence of heroin and cocaine respectively. Hines was also found to be in possession of over $800.00 in cash in various denominations as well as two cellular phones."

Hines was taken into custody and was released after posting bond on bail of $10,000. He is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on May 27.
