Bridgeport Man Charged In Armed Home Invasion, Robbery In Shelton: Police
Police said the homeowners were held at gunpoint for several hours and valuables, including watches and jewelry, were stolen.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport man was arrested Thursday and charged in connection with an armed home invasion reported last year in Shelton, according to the Shelton Police Department.
In a news release, Police Sgt. Colin Bitsco said Hipolito Rodriguez, 52, of Bridgeport, and another person entered a Shelton home on Feb. 14, 2025, while masked and armed with handguns.
According to Bitsco, the suspects demanded a large sum of money from the homeowners, held them at gunpoint for several hours and stole valuables throughout the home, including watches and jewelry.

After an extensive investigation, police obtained surveillance footage of a vehicle associated with the robbery, which was later confirmed to match one reported stolen and linked to a similar armed incident in Bridgeport, according to Bitsco.
Police identified Rodriguez as a suspect in both cases as a result of the investigation, Bitsco said.

Detectives also located a storage unit rented by a family member of Rodriguez, where the majority of the stolen jewelry was recovered, Bitsco said.
Additional stolen items were found to have been sold at a local jewelry business, according to Bitsco.
Rodriguez was charged with conspiracy to commit home invasion, first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery.
Rodriguez is currently in the custody of the Connecticut Department of Correction and was processed and charged through Derby Superior Court. His bond was set at $350,000, according to Bitsco.
