Bridgeport Man Charged In Norwalk Bank Robbery: PD

Police said a Bridgeport man accused of robbing a Norwalk bank has been arrested.

NORWALK, CT — Police said a Bridgeport man accused of robbing a Norwalk bank Monday afternoon was arrested hours later on charges of first-degree robbery and larceny. According to a news release, officers responded to the People’s Bank on Belden Avenue at approximately 1:08 p.m. after receiving a report of a robbery.

According to police, the caller said a man entered the bank, stated he had a gun and demanded money. After obtaining the money, the suspect fled the bank on foot, police said.

Police secured the bank and began checking the area for the suspect, during which officers received information the he may be on Harbor Avenue. Police said officers subsequently located Mark Dallaire, 59, of Bridgeport on Harbor Avenue.

"Based on evidence recovered at the bank and evidence recovered at the scene, to include the money, Dallaire was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing," Lieutenant Terrence Blake said in a release." Dallaire, who is currently a supervised person with the Department of Corrections Parole and Community Services, was remanded to custody."

Chief Thomas E. Kulhawik praised the Patrol Division, Detective Bureau and other specialized units for their professional response and investigation which ended with the timely arrest of the suspect without further incident, police said.
