Bridgeport Man Charged In Preteen Sex Assault; Cops Warn Parents
Social media apps can be 'havens for predators,' police warned, after a child was assaulted by a man the victim met on Snapchat.

STRATFORD, CT — Law enforcement is warning parents to monitor their children's social media use after a preteen was sexually assaulted in Stratford by a Bridgeport man the victim met through Snapchat, according to police.
Reginald W. Sharp, 34, created fake profiles on several social media apps and used one of them to lure the victim from a home and sexually assault the preteen, Stratford police stated in a news release. Law enforcement arrested Sharp late Tuesday night after the assault was reported earlier that day. He is charged with sexual assault, enticing a minor using a computer and risk of injury to a minor, according to police. Sharp is a convicted and registered sex offender, police stated. He is being held on a $2 million bond.
"Parents should be reminded that they should closely monitor their children’s social media accounts on a regular basis as many social media applications can be havens for predators," Capt. Frank Eannotti stated in the release.
