Bridgeport Man Charged In Violent Robbery: Feds
Dijon Champagnie has been indicted on robbery and gun charges.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport man is facing federal robbery and gun charges, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Dijon Champagnie, 21, has been charged in connection with a violent drug-related robbery.
According to prosecutors, Champagnie stole drugs from someone in July 19, 2019 and fired a gun during the crime. Champagnie has been detained in state custody since his arrest on related state charges on July 20, 2019.
The indictment charges Champagnie with one count of interference with commerce by robbery , which carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years, and one count of possession and discharge of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, which carries a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum term of life imprisonment.
