Bridgeport Man Fired Shots While Driving On I-95: State Police
The man is accused of firing gunshots while he was driving on I-95 in Bridgeport and Stratford on Sunday afternoon.

STRATFORD, CT — A Bridgeport man was arrested after police say he fired shots while driving on I-95 North in Bridgeport and Stratford on Sunday afternoon. The suspect was eventually apprehended in New Haven. The situation began unfolding at about 3:36 p.m. on May 6 when State Police received 911 calls reporting a shooting on I-95 North near exit 28 in Bridgeport. Witnesses told police that a white male suspect with full beard was firing a handgun from a gray Ford Focus that continued traveling northbound on I-95. Shots fired were also reported near Exit 32 in Stratford.
Shortly after the shooting was reported, and with the assistance of the New Haven Police Department, a suspect was identified as Matthew Bouton and the Ford Focus was located on Grand Avenue in New Haven, according to police. Bouton, 27, was taken into custody without incident, police said.
Bouton, of Bridgeport, was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment and breach of peace. He was held on a $100,000 bond and scheduled to appear at Bridgeport Superior Court on May 7.
