Bridgeport Man Fled To Mass., Charged In Murder: Police

A Bridgeport man has been charged in a murder last month after he was caught by law enforcement in Massachusetts.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport man fled the state and was arrested for murder in Falmouth, Massachusetts, last month, according to police. Jefton Brown, 25, was taken into custody and will be extradited back to Connecticut for future court appearances.

According to police:

Brown picked up Jonathan Dawson in a vehicle and killed him June 2. Brown then dumped Dawson’s body on the side of the road in East Lyme.

Detectives learned that Brown was driving a rental vehicle at the time of the homicide and that he took extraordinary efforts to repair and clean the vehicle to hide evidence of the homicide.

Detectives found this vehicle along with significant evidence to charge Brown with murder.

Bridgeport Police also received assistance from the FBI that helped establish probable cause to charge Brown.

Detectives learned that Brown had fled the state and was in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Bridgeport detectives assigned to the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force coordinated with US Marshals in Massachusetts and Brown was taken into custody June 16 in Falmouth.
