Bridgeport Man Killed In 1 Of 2 Shootings In The City Monday: Police

In the second shooting, a juvenile was shot in the eye with a BB from a moving vehicle.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 38-year-old Bridgeport man, who was shot late Monday in the 100 block of Washington Terrace, has died from his injuries, according to Bridgeport police.

Jose Alicea suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital following the 8:30 p.m. shooting. He later succumbed to his injuries.

"This appears to be an isolated incident where Mr. Alicea was the only person targeted," said Bridgeport Police Captain Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "The Bridgeport Police Department offers their sincerest condolences to his family and friends."

The shooting is under investigation by the department's Homicide & Identification Units, and anyone with any information on the shooting is urged to contact Bridgeport police Det. Martin Heanue at 203-581-5242. Anonymous tips can also be left for the department at 203-576-TIPS.

The fatal shooting was one of two shootings Monday, according to police.

At roughly the same time as the Washington Terrace incident, a juvenile was shot in the eye with a BB on Rosedale Street, according to police.

"Responsible parties shot from a vehicle, suspects fled in an unknown direction," police said.

No other details were released, but anyone with any information on the Rosedale Street incident is also urged to call into the Bridgeport Police Tips Line at 203-576-TIPS.
