New Details Emerge in Bridgeport Police-Involved Shooting: UPDATE
State police are investigating an officer-involved shooting on Woodmount Avenue in Bridgeport.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — State Police are investigating after a Bridgeport police officer allegedly shot an 18-year-old armed robbery suspect in the face following an altercation on Woodmont Avenue Wednesday night.
Detectives responded to 436 Woodmont Ave. at 7:10 p.m. for a report of an attempted street robbery, state police say. While speaking with the 18 and 16-year-old suspects, an altercation ensued which led a Bridgeport detective to shoot the 18-year-old suspect, according to state police.
The unidentified 18-year-old was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center and later to Yale-New Haven hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 16-year-old was arrested on scene by Bridgeport Police.

The Hartford Courant reports the suspect was shot in the face. Police say both suspects were armed. Bridgeport Police Capt. Brian Fitzgerald said the officer fired his weapon in response to the actions of the suspect, reports the Courant.
The State Police Western District Major Crime is conducting the use of force investigation, and Bridgeport Police are conducting a criminal investigation.
