Bridgeport P&Z Votes Down Proposed Storage Site For Former Stop & Shop
Mayor Joseph Ganim thanked the commission on the decision.

The following release is from the City of Bridgeport:
BRIDGEPORT, CT — [Monday] night, during the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, a public hearing was held regarding the self-storage plan that required a special permit. The commission voted 4 to 2 against the project.
Mayor Ganim stated, “I want to thank the Planning and Zoning Commission for hearing the residents and denying the special permit to build storage units on Madison Avenue. As I have stated previously, I am opposed to storage units being built on the former Stop and Shop site because such development is not compatible with this exclusively residential neighborhood. Instead, I support the residents and their desire to see housing, particularly senior housing on this site. The City is also interested in exploring the construction of a new North End senior center at that site. I renew my commitment to have the Office of Planning and Economic Development and my office work with the developer towards a use for the property that is better suited for the North End.
