Police, fire crews, and state investigators responded to numerous 911 calls about the car fire at the North End park entrance, and are continuing to examine how the blaze started while withholding the victim's identity to protect her family.

Bridgeport Police Seize Fentanyl Pills, Cocaine And Other Drugs From East Side House (patch.com) — Bridgeport police and an FBI task force seized large quantities of fentanyl pills, cocaine, heroin, and marijuana from a house on Ohio Avenue in the East Side, along with equipment for packaging drugs. Additional search warrants were executed at a local market and in Shelton as part of an ongoing investigation expected to move to federal authorities, with arrests anticipated and officials emphasizing the impact on public safety in Bridgeport.
   

3. 4-Year-Old Girl Struck, Critically Injured By Bridgeport Police Car, Department Says (patch.com) — Bridgeport neighbors are closely watching the recovery of a 4-year-old girl who was critically injured when a city police car struck her on Hanover Street as it responded to a nearby emergency at Went Field Park. The child, who lives on the block, remains in critical but stable condition at Bridgeport Hospital, while local and regional investigators work to reconstruct the crash and gather information from witnesses.
   

4. Bridgeport may use eminent domain to finally build footbridge from Black Rock to Fairfield (ctpost.com) — Bridgeport officials are moving forward with a long-delayed pedestrian bridge linking Black Rock to Fairfield's train station and may use eminent domain for temporary construction access behind Brewster Street. The project aims to ease traffic on Brewster Street, shorten commuter walks by up to 15 minutes, and better connect Black Rock residents and businesses to the Fairfield-Black Rock station.
   

5. Video Shows Ex-Bridgeport Officer Pocketing Cash During Bodega Raid: Police (dailyvoice.com) — Bridgeport readers should know that a former city police officer has been arrested after video allegedly showed him pocketing cash during a 2022 raid at Shorty's Deli on East Main Street. State police say body camera and security footage captured him handling bills from a toolbox, and he's now free on bond while the criminal case proceeds.
