Bridgeport PD Cop Retires Amid Racist Text Probe

The captain was placed on leave and ultimately retired from the department.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Police Capt. Mark Straubel retired from the department amid an investigation into alleged racist texts he sent about another officer.

Straubel was placed on administrative leave after an officer filed a complaint, according to the Connecticut Post.

One text sent from Straubel's phone said he hated African-Americans and hoped for a race war, the Post reported.
