Bridgeport PD Investigates 2nd Fatal Shooting In A Day

A 35-year-old local man was killed Monday night. Earlier in the day, a 26-year-old Naugatuck man was fatally shot.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 35-year-old Bridgeport man was fatally shot in the 600 block of Trumbull Avenue in Bridgeport Monday night, the second fatal shooting in the city in the same day, according to police.

Tyeshon King was found at about 8:55 p.m. on Trumbull Avenue after police were notified of the shooting through a ShotSpotter activation and calls from citizens. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center where he later died, according to Bridgeport police.

"Next of kin has been notified," police said in a statement. "The Bridgeport Police Department’s thoughts and prayers are with Tyeshon King’s family and friends."

Members of the Bridgeport Police Detective Bureau Homicide Squad has taken charge of the investigation, and detectives are working several leads, authorities said.

It does not appear this homicide is related to the homicide of Naugatuck resident Tyheem Scales, 26, who was shot and killed earlier today in the 900 block of William Street, Bridgeport police said.
