Bridgeport Police Search For Suspect After Man Shot In Stomach

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport police are investigating the shooting of a man Sunday night in the 1200 block of Howard Avenue.

The victim suffered a stomach wound, and was taken privately to an area hospital; his condition is not known.

Police initially learned of the 11 p.m. shooting via its Shot Spotter technology, which can detect when gunshots are fired, and the department also received multiple 911 calls about the shooting.

"This incident is being investigated further by the [Bridgeport Police Detective Bureau]," said Scott Appleby, director of Bridgeport's Office of Emergency Management.
