Bridgeport Public Schools is reportedly considering adding the holiday in a future school year.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport Public Schools is considering adding the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha to its school calendar, the Connecticut Post reported.

The Bridgeport Board of Education’s Instruction and Support Services Committee began a discussion this week about the possibility of adding the holiday, but tabled the matter to its April meeting.

If eventually approved by the board, the Muslim holiday would be placed on the school calendar alongside other district observances, such as Eid al-Fitr, which was added in 2022. Eid al-Adha is known as the "Festival of Sacrifice" in the Islamic religion.
