Bridgeport Public Schools Scrap Half-Day Schedule: UPDATE
Schools were on a half-day schedule for the first part of the week, but will return to full days Thursday and Friday, officials said.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Though temperatures in many classrooms exceeded 90 degrees earlier this week, Bridgeport Public Schools will return to a full-day schedule through Friday, Schools Superintendent Michael Testani announced.
"Bridgeport Public Schools - Full Session will now resume, Thursday September 1, 2022," officials wrote on the district's website Wednesday afternoon.
In a message to parents Tuesday, Testani had said the decision on half days was in an effort to keep students and teachers safe.

"The district team made the decision to mitigate placing students and staff in a potentially dangerous environment," wrote Testani, who will soon become the superintendent of Fairfield Public Schools. "The weather we are currently experiencing is not typical for this time of the year which made planning impossible."
However, on Wednesday, the district reversed course, because temperatures were not expected to be as high for the rest of the week.

"The weather forecast is calling for much cooler temperatures for the remainder of the week," Testani wrote. "All Bridgeport Public Schools will return to a full day schedule on Thursday, September 1, 2022, and Friday, September 2, 2022."
