Bridgeport Rallies To Help Family Of Mother, Children Killed In Crash

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help the family of victims Andresa K. De Brito Alves, 25, and her children, Laura, 6, and Riquelme, 3.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport residents, especially those of the Brazilian-American community, are rallying to help the loved one of Andresa K. De Brito Alves, 25, and her children, Laura, 6, and Riquelme, 3, who were killed in a two-vehicle crash on Route 8 in Beacon Falls on Sunday.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched earlier this week to assist the victims' family, and as of Thursday, more than $30,000 has been raised. New donations are disabled at this time.

"They suffered a tragic car accident and unfortunately they did not make it," wrote Samilla Gama, the GoFundMe effort's organizer. "Our family is counting on the help of your donations, to be able to honor their live here on earth with us."

According to state police, both vehicles in the crash, a 2021 Honda Civic and a 2023 Ford F-600 Super Duty, were traveling in the left lane, when the Ford rear-ended the Honda. The collision caused the two vehicles to smash into a concrete barrier off the left lane.

The two children died on Sunday, and their mother passed away on Monday.
