Bridgeport Residents Asked To Report Flood Damage From Weekend's Rainstorm

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport residents affected by Sunday's flooding have until Sept. 22 to report property damage and unmet needs through a state damage reporting survey.

The Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection's Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security has activated CrisisTrack to collect reports of flood-related damage from residents and households in Bridgeport and across the state.

State and local emergency management officials will use information submitted through the survey to document and assess the effects of the flooding and identify community needs.

Residents can submit reports through the CrisisTrack Damage Reporting Survey by Sept. 22 at:

A QR code for the survey may also be distributed in the community.

"It's important that every Bridgeport resident who experienced flooding or property damage takes a few minutes to complete this survey," Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim said in a statement. "Whether it was a flooded basement, damage to your home, furniture or personal belongings, a vehicle, or another flood-related loss, we want to make sure it's included. The more accurately we can document the impact of this storm across our city, the better positioned Bridgeport and the state will be to demonstrate the need for potential federal disaster assistance and recovery resources."

The survey is for information-gathering purposes only, and submitting a report does not guarantee financial assistance. Damage and unmet-needs reports may be used to help determine whether Connecticut is eligible for potential post-disaster programs through the Federal Emergency Management Agency or the U.S. Small Business Administration.

State and local emergency management officials are asking residents to share the CrisisTrack reporting information with others who may have been affected by the Sept. 13 flooding.
